Permanent makup for lips allows you to have a permanently deeper colour and/or a permanent liner. The procedure can transform your lips by adding definition and volume.

Permanent lip procedures

Permanent lip contour and blush is an excellent way to enhance your natural lips, with it, a perfect symmetrical border can be achieved. You can enhance your lips’ natural colour or go for something more vibrant. Cosmetic tattooing is especially good when needing to add definition to lips.

Permanent lip contour & blush procedure

– A step by step guide

1. Consultation

Before any procedure, it’s important to have a consultation with me so that we can discuss what’s involved and the look you want. I offer free, no-obligation consultations at clinics in Liverpool, Manchester and on the Wirral.

2. Analysis

I’ll perform a full skin tone analysis to determine what pigments to use to achieve your desired lip colour, taking your hair colour into consideration. Please see my pigments and colour theory pages for more information.

3. Preparation

I’ll use a guide colour pencil to draw on the desired shape, measuring symmetry and using calipers to perfect your measurements. I will ask you to confirm that everything is correct before we begin. A topical anaesthetic is applied to the area, to minimise any discomfort.

4. The procedure

The procedure takes between 60-90 minutes, as I carefully recontour your lips to create a beautiful, fuller lip. Depending on the desired effect once the lip line has been recontoured, a blush blend can be added to make your lips more voluminous. I will then check your lips for any final adjustments and apply aftercare.

5. Top up

You will need to have a top up appointment to check the shape and colour of your healed lips and take care of any adjustments. This takes place only when the skin has healed: usually 4-6 weeks from the initial procedure. Enjoy your new lips!

6. Maintenance

Permanent makeup does fade over time and exposure to sun and skin tone are contributing factors as to when you’ll require a colour boost. I would recommend booking a consultation with me 12-18 months from your completed procedure.

Frequently asked questions about permanent brows

How long will my brows last for?

The answer to this is that everyone is different, the pigment fades due to the natural ex foliation of the skin. So as your dead skin cells disperse through your body, so too does the pigment attached to the cells. Darker colours are more stable colours than the lighter and so tend to last longer. However the light colours should still last at least anywhere from 9 months – 3 years. However I have seen some lighter colour be there upto 10 years later in a lesser form. This is why I personally prefer to call it ‘Permanent’ makeup rather than ‘semi permanent’ as it is likely never fully disappear. It also depends on if you attend your 6 week top up which is essential for you to get the longevity out of your permanent makeup.

Do you have to remove the brow hair that is already there?

NO! there is absolutely no need to remove the brow hair that is already there. Keeping this will add a more natural dimension to your brow. The only time any hair may need to be removed is small amounts to shape the brow to get the best shape possible for you. They shouldn’t be waxed or threaded immediately before the procedure as this will open your pores and pigment may get into the pores.

Will my brows fade once they are healed?

When you first have your permanent makeup done, the colour will be between 50 – 70% lighter after the initial scabbing comes off. Remember the pigment is healing under your skin, not on top of it. I always air on the side of caution initially so you can get used to it but I would say 95% of my clients return for there top-up wanting them darker. This should always be fully explained and understood before any permanent makeup is applied.

What colour will you use for my brows?

I bespoke mix your colour taking into account your skin tone and hair colour to get the perfect colour for you. This is also discussed and confirmed with you before any treatment goes ahead.

Can permanent brows be removed?

As mentioned earlier, this is permanent makeup however is does fade. If you have had substandard work somewhere then I can advise you according to whatever the issue is, whether it be colour, placement or shape. There are numerous ways of removal for permanent make up the most widely used being laser. This is why its so important to trust your permanent makeup artist.
