The Christmas party season is just around the corner, while it is only October still, it doesn’t hurt to be prepared! Invites have started to come through to parties, family visits, shopping days; your mind becomes a whirl of invites, presents to buy, people to visit. All this on top of our usual busy lives.  Some days we don’t have the time to stop and reapply our lippy!! Who couldn’t do with a few more minutes in the day, or one less thing to worry about?  While I cant extend the hours in the day permanent makeup can save you time on your makeup routine and have you looking your best 24/7!

What is permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup is the process of implanting pigment into the dermis layer of the skin to give more definition and colour.  It is more of an aesthetic rather than a quick fix beauty treatment and as such the results have a more lasting effect.  With this in mind, now would be a great time to get your permanent makeup ready for the Christmas season!

What is the process and healing times?

A permanent makeup treatment will consist of a thorough consultation, skin tone analysis and initial treatment.  Once the treatment is complete there is no ‘down time’ as such so you can go about your day as normal.  However there is a healing process:

For the first 5 -7 days your will experience minor scabbing over the treated area. Once the exfoliation process starts this will flake away to reveal a lighter colour and will appear completely healed, however the under layers of the skin will still be healing over the next 4 – 6 weeks.

By the time you reach the 6 weeks the ‘true colour’ (which is the colour of the pigment plus your skin tone) will become apparent.  It is at this point you should go for your ‘top up’.  This is to clarify the colour and make any adjustments to the shape and colour, should any be required.

While your permanent makeup may look fine its always advisable to go for the top up treatment to get the best results.  This will also help with the longevity of your permanent makeup.
